#^Poorly selling Steam Machines finally removed from Steam store front page
Move seems to be final nail in coffin for SteamOS-based hardware push.
So the #SteamMachine
is dead, that's no suprise. #Valve
did a big push gaming on #Linux
with the #SteamOS
, but the hardware didn't sell well. But today are roughly 4,000 linux-ready games listed on the steam store. Not bad. But the Linux market share is very low. In best times it was ~1% but today it's only ~0.33% (Windows 97.94%, macOS 1.64%). The reason for this seems to be the steadily growth of the number of user, mainly the new users from China. The consequence of these numbers could be that the game studios won't develope Linux versions of ther games anymore … We'll see.
